Ma’an Curriculum

A Comprehensive Early Childhood Learning Program

Project Context

The “Ma’an” Curriculum was developed as part of the early childhood education initiatives led by the Association for the Protection of the Environment (APE). The program was designed to provide a learning experience that reflects the local community context, makes effective use of available resources, and supports children’s cognitive and behavioral development within a non-traditional learning environment.

Educational Approach

The curriculum is built around an integrated, life-connected learning approach, where knowledge is not presented in isolation, but through real-life situations and hands-on experiences that encourage children to understand, explore, and actively engage with the world around them.

The approach focuses on:

  • Learning through experience and practice
  • Encouraging curiosity and inquiry
  • Connecting learning to children’s everyday lives

Project Objectives

The curriculum aims to:

  • Develop children’s thinking and exploration skills
  • Strengthen communication and social interaction skills
  • Encourage positive behaviors connected to everyday life
  • Connect learning to the child’s surrounding environment and lived experiences

Key Features of the Learning Solution

The curriculum was designed as an integrated learning experience that combines knowledge with practical application through:

  • Exploration- and experimentation-based activities
  • Learning situations that reflect real-life experiences
  • The integration of values and life skills within the educational journey
  • Supporting the teacher’s role as a facilitator of learning
Curriculum Components
  • Interactive learning activities based on play and hands-on experiences
  • Everyday life learning scenarios, such as buying and selling and understanding social roles
  • Simple project-based activities, including farming, construction, and handmade production
  • Story-based and contextual activities that enhance understanding and engagement
  •

Children in early childhood programs within community and educational settings, particularly in environments that emphasize experiential learning and the effective use of local resources.

  • The project provides:

    • An integrated learning model that combines skills, values, and practical application
    • A child-centered learning experience focused on understanding rather than memorization
    • A practical framework that enables organizations to deliver effective education using simple resources
    • A strong foundation for lifelong learning from an early age

This project reflects the integrated curriculum design philosophy of EducQuest in early childhood education. It connects values and social-context challenges with language development, scientific understanding, and social learning. The learning experience is designed to emerge from children’s natural curiosity, connect with their realities, and translate into meaningful practices and sustainable behaviors.
